This may look like a moshpit full of neon maggots but in actual fact it's the primordial “lactosludge” left over from the pickle ferment. This stuff is the most amazing recource to put in your meals, or use as a “mother” for future ferments. We hived some off for home consumption and used the rest in a lemon dill sauerkraut.
